- Deep Tissue
- General relaxation techniques.
In 1998, I left a long term career as a newspaper copy editor to pursue massage full time, and I've never looked back. From the moment I began classes at the Santa Barbara School of Massage in June 1994, I knew in my heart I'd found my passion.
During the past 20 years I've been honored to offer relaxation techniques to many people who previously had not experienced the healing and relaxation massage offers — my former newspaper colleagues, and the many engineers I massaged while employed as a corporate massage therapist at two high-tech companies in Goleta.
In addition, I've worked at five hotel or resort spas in Santa Barbara, Los Olivos and Solvang, and for two years volunteered my time massaging clients of hospice services in Santa Barbara.
I am licensed by the city and county of Santa Barbara, and the city of Solvang; since 1997 have been a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP), and since 2010, certified by the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC).
I am certified in the bodywork modalities of Cranio Sacral Therapy and Reiki (Level 1 for each). I specialize in deep tissue, Swedish, Reflexology and general relaxation techniques that focus on breathing and gentle stretching. My sincere belief is that if more people had more massage, the world would be a more relaxed place.
I have lived in Santa Barbara County since 1989, and in Lompoc since 2008. I am a native of California, and was raised in Sacramento. Before relocating to this region, I lived in Bellingham, Wa.; Mendocino County; and the San Francisco Bay area.
When I'm not massaging, I am writing — I am a freelance wine writer for various local and state publications, and publish a blog. I also enjoy the great outdoors for hiking and picnics and travel.
I am honored to join the staff of Magnolia Massage.
